Prince Rama Varma - Mein Paagal Hoon - Introduction

During the Corona Virus Lockdown, Prince Rama Varma gives us a tiny glimpse of his great love for and great knowledge of Hindi Film songs by speaking about the wonderful bond shared by the two legends Kishore Kumar and Hemant Kumar. As a young man in his late teens and early twenties, Varma ji literally used to walk the streets of Mumbai in search of VHS Tapes of movies starring Kishore Kumar and I got to enjoy so many of these, including the strange film Door Wadiyon Me Kahin which did not have a single song! Even then there were films that Varma ji could not get hold of and the film Girlfriend, starring Kishore Kumar and Waheeda Rehman was one of them. This had one of the craziest songs sung by Kishore Kumar and we always wondered what the visual would be like. Well, I guess this would be as close to the original as we could ever get, because it is just unbelievable, the way Varma ji embodies the spirit of Kishore Kumar, the way few others have done.
