Community reacts to marijuana legalization

By Justin Matthews/KTVL.com MEDFORD, Ore.- The spirit around the Rogue Valley was quite high Wednesday between people excited about recreational marijuana being a reality, and the dispensaries already working in the pot industry. Some dispensaries were having free giveaways, like joints or small portions of marijuana to anyone who is 21 years-old or older. They did not have to be medical marijuana card-holders. The dispensaries were allowed to give away weed but still can't sell it recreationally, even though it is now legal to possess it and smoke on private property. "We've already had a few people come in wondering if they can buy recreational marijuana at our store and really over the passed couple of weeks we've had a lot of inquiries, when will I be able to come in and buy marijuana come July first," said Jason Rott, the owner of Pharm 2 Table. Older generations told News10 they never thought they'd see this day in their lifetime. One person said he has been waiting 50 years for this moment.
