HAI has set up an informal Drone for Humanity (DfH) platform to integrate technology in disaster management. Through this platform, HAI often uses drones, artificial intelligence and geospatial technology for post-disaster damage and loss assessment. This technology was found more useful for assessment after cyclone Amphan as conventional methods of damage and loss assessment were not possible in the midst of ongoing Covid19 pandemic and travel restrictions. HAI collected massive amount of data from the affected Sundarbans area in West Bengal, India, which can inform the stakeholders to plan their relief and recovery and rehabilitation interventions accordingly.
