Homily, 9am Sunday Mass, February 7, 2021

Fr. Simon's homily for the third week of our preaching series 'Jesus is...'. Watch the full Mass here:    • 9am Sunday Mass, February 7, 2021   LIFE GROUP QUESTIONS: 1. Fr. Simon shares that one of the impacts of this current pandemic is many of us can feel stuck in a rut. Are there ways in the current pandemic that you have experienced being stuck in a rut? 2. In The Book of Job, Job loses EVERYTHING! “Does not the human being have a hard service on earth?” (Job 7:1). “.....I am allotted months of emptiness, and nights of misery….”. “.....the night is long, and I am full of tossing until dawn……”. Can you relate to Job’s struggles? 3. Fr. Simon speaks to two core problems: 1) Emptiness/Hopelessness and 2) Sin. Are there unhealthy activities you pursue in your life, when you are feeling empty and hopeless, that do nothing to help the situation and actually drive you deeper into despair? 4. “He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.” (Mark 1:31). Jesus arrives and changes Simon’s mother-in-law’s circumstances. Have you ever been struggling and Jesus came into your life and changed your circumference? 5. Fr. Simon shares that ‘JESUS WANTS TO RAISE US UP’. What do these words mean to you? 6. Fr. Simon shares that the #1 obstacle from us being saved by Jesus is, ‘we don’t think we NEED to be saved’. What do you think of that statement? Is there anything that you can identify in your life that you need to be saved from? 7. Fr. Simon challenges all of us to ask Jesus to save us. Can you take some time this week and pray these words to Jesus? ‘Jesus, I NEED you to SAVE me’. ‘Jesus, I beg you to RAISE ME UP.’
