Yet another discovery of Thirthankar imageIn a village called Vayalakavur, at a distance of 26 Kms from Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram District ; It is small village near Thirumukkudal; Mr.Jeevakumar , Jain priest at Thirukalukundram takes the credit for this discovered Mahavir Thirthankara image - previously he , a relentless enthusiast whose passion for discovering the Jain heritage of ancient times, jaina vestiges in many parts of Tamilnadu ; previously he discovered the foot prints of Jainism in the form of abandoned Mahaveer Images in Magaral,Kavanthandalam, Angampakkam, Villiyampakkam, Padur, Siruthavur, Enaththur, Ravaththanallur, Eralacheri, stone beds in Narappakkam, Ilanagar- all in Kanchipuram District- the erstwhile Capital region of Pallava Kingdom; the famous and ancient Jaina hill at Onampakkam is also a precious heritage site in Kanchipuram district; This Mahaveer stone image of about 3ft.hight , in a sitting posture is found near the banks of Palar river . ; the image is surrounded by bushes ; on inquiry ,villagers say that this image has been there for several generations ; In a nearby place called Kavanthandalam ,a Thirthankara image was found in the riverbed
