Thanks to abstractionist Oleksandr (Aleksandr) Tishler (Олександр Тишлер in Ukrainian and Александр Тишлер in Russian) O. Tyshler was born in Melitopol, Zaporizka Region,Ukraine in 1898. His mother was a Caucasian Jew ( Dzhindzhihashvili). His father was a cabinetmaker. Attended Kyiv Art College in 1912-1918 and the Kyiv studio of Alexandra Exter, establishing contact with Boris Aronson, Isaak Rabinovich, Nisson Shifrin, Sofia Vishnivetskaia and others. The training time lived at the residence at the Kyiv Jewish Hospital. In 1919 he participated in a festive arrangement of the city Kyiv. During the Civil War served with the Red Army. Contributed to the Okna Rosta in Melitopol (display windows for the Russian Telegraph Agency used for propaganda). Moved to Moscow in 1921. Enrolled in Vkhutemas, studying under Vladimir Favorsky; collaborated with Central Institute of Labor. Explored abstract painting. Founding member of the Projectionist group (1922). Met Vladimir Mayakovsky, Eduard Bagritsky, Velimir Khlebnikov, Vera Inber, Petr Miturich, Seergei Esenin, and other progressive writers and artists. Worked in a somewhat Expressionist or Surrealist manner in various media (early and mid-1920s). Principal member of OST, supporting the group's general return to a figurative esthetic (1925). Focused on stage design (late 1920s onwards). Keeping personal style, style romance and visionary, he often, especially in the mature period, repeats the combination of colors, and thematic motifs - his original apprentice period (effect of Exter and Bogomazov) is largely defined his stylistic frame. By their own style Tyshler came not only through the introduction of first-hand (at the school, in the studio Exter) with the latest Russian and Western currents, but also through the study of their national traditions - the Ukrainian and Jewish: murals, ecclesiastical architecture, with its lush splint locality and decorative beauty. All that has been created by Tyshler to mid 30-ies in the field of drawing and painting in Belgost, Gypsy Theater, the theater of Kharkov, in Moscow - as it determined the starting positions of its future work. Tyshler always been very individual, his work is difficult to attribute to any trends and directions. He was among the few artists who have not joined the line of socialist realism. In the twenties he represented the Russian art in international exhibitions: in Dresden, Harbin, on the Biennale in Venice in 1928, but in the 30's is wicked for the power. Since the late 1930's, he almost did not show their works publicly. It was only in 1960, during the "thaw", he was able to openly engage in creative and exhibit their work. During World War II was evacuated to Tashkent,Uzbekistan. Continued to work predominantly for the theatre, also worked on wooden sculpture (1950 onwards). Died in 1980 in Moscow. http://vimeo.com/15739878 --------------- Halyna Myroslava"The Autumn Evening" Галина Мирослава "Осінній вечір" http://fairytale-ua.ucoz.ru/blog/svit...
