Lithuania Energy Independence: Baltics welcome new offshore gas terminal

Lithuania has taken a major step towards energy independence from Russia, after a huge off-shore natural gas vessel docked in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda. The new terminal is aimed at breaking Russia’s decades old energy stronghold on the Baltic States Aptly named “Independence”, the facility means Moscow will no longer be able to exercise political pressure on Lithuania, an EU and NATO member, by manipulating gas prices.
