Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested to Russian President Vladimir Putin to convene another summit on Syrian Idlib. "I would like to mention the recently held Idlib summit in Istanbul, which was attended by four interested countries (Russia, Turkey, France, Germany), at which we discussed the steps that need to be taken to solve the problem. I think that it would be right to hold one more summit," Erdogan said during talks with Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires. He also offered to discuss its possible format. Putin, Erdogan, as well as French leader Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel met in Istanbul on October27 to review developments in Syria. Prior to that, on September 17, Putin and Erdogan agreed at talks in Sochi to set up a demilitarized zone in Idlib along the contact line of the armed opposition and the government forces by October 15. The withdrawal of heavy weaponry operated by the militants is also part of the agreement. However, the creation of the demilitarized zone is still not completed, as terrorists continue provocations. #erdogan #putin #G20summit2018 #syria #idlib
