TUSCULUM, Ohio (WKRC) - Police are investigating a serious head-on accident that shut down both directions of Columbia Parkway Friday morning. One car crossed the center line at 5:23 a.m., slamming into the other. Police say one driver, Fernando Gomez, suffered life-threatening injuries. The other driver, Samuel Bakes, was seriously hurt. Bakes was not wearing his seat belt. Both were taken to UC Medical Center. Columbia Parkway was shut down for about three hours while police investigated and cleared the scene. They say it doesn't appear the driver who crossed the center line was speeding or impaired. Any witnesses to this crash are asked to call the Traffic Unit at 352-2514.
