#JimBairdAdventurer #BushcraftSurvival #Outdoors 25 Days of High Adventure Camping in the Northern Manitoba Wild - E.4 - Flood Conditions & Walleye: In this one, my brother Ted Baird (Sub to his channel here @TheRealTedBaird )and I portage canoes over the height-of-land in the Northern Manitoba Wilderness to reach the headwaters of the remote South Seal River. This is the wild north, remote wild camping in the truest sense of the word as we've been well off-grid after our floatplane drop-off. On the morning of Day-4 I bushcraft my canoe seat repair and paddle several backcountry lakes. After soloing rapids, I see what looks like thousands of Pickerel (Walleye) feeding on a hatch of moths. They won't even touch our fishing lures though! Flies would have been a good wilderness survivalism item to pack in our outfitting kit of fishing tackle. Fortunately, Ted figures out a trick to land the fish! Not long after, while approaching our first major rapids of the expedition, we discover flood conditions and the rapid is raging! It is dangerous and concerning. The river is into the trees and we need to portage. After lugging our drybags, food barrels, and canoes around the rapid we begin outfitting our canoes with airbags and spray decks for whitewater. Did I mention the mosquitos are bad?! (Fortunately we brought Muskol bug spray). It's almost 8:00pm by the time we're done so we decide to make camp there and are concerned that we're falling behind schedule. Ted sets up the tent and I use my Boreal 21 folding saw and Hudson Bay Axe to get firewood.
