The world has been stunned by the recent senseless brutal attack on Salman Rushdie that somehow feels like a shocking surprise as well as an inevitable tragedy. In case you missed the news: Acclaimed novelist Salman Rushdie was attacked on Friday, Aug 12, at an event in New York. He's alive and the assailant has been apprehended and charged with attempted murder and assault. He has pleaded not guilty. Rushdie was stabbed in the neck and abdomen and also sustained injuries to his eye and arm. He has been taken off a ventilator and is now able to speak-and he's making jokes!
