Lord of the Sabbath | 2nd Week of Ordinary Time | Tuesday Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 2:23-28 23 Jesus was passing through some wheat fields on the Sabbath. His disciples began to pick heads of grain as they walked along. 24 Then the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look! Why are they doing on the Sabbath what is not lawful?” 25 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read what David and his companions did when they were hungry and in need? 26 How he entered the house of God, in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for the priests to eat, and also gave some to his companions? However, it is lawful only for the priests to eat this bread.” 27 And he added: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28. Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
