Cardinals back in action today as they head to the desert today to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in diamond action. Diamondbacks are 40-37 for the season, but just 2-games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. D-Backs are 5-5 in the last 10-games. As for the Cardinals, we are flying high, with a 60-15 record, leading the league and major is wins and the best overall record. Cards on a 4-game winning streak and hope to continue that today with a victory from our ace Carlos Martinez. Martinez is matched up with D-Backs pitcher Robbie Ray. Martinez is 11-2, with an ERA of 2.00 and Ray is 5-1 with an ERA of 3.20. Martinez last start was against the Phillies where he and the Cards lost 6-5. Martinez only worked 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 5 runs, 4 were earn, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Martinez had a rough 3 innings but the team was able to get back in the 7th inning but couldn’t do anything but give up a run in extras innings, the 11th, as the Phillies took the late game win. As for the Diamondbacks, Ray last start was against the Rockies in Denver where he won his game 2-0.
