Syria: Aleppo ceasefire begins

Leaflets dropped over rebel-held parts of the Syrian city of Aleppo urged people to take their chance to get out, as a so-called 'humanitarian pause' in air strikes formally came into effect on Thursday. Loud hailers are also being used to announce the unilateral ceasefire backed by Russia. Syrian state media says the army has opened exit corridors from the besieged east, with buses standing ready to evacuate civilians and fighters.
