North Korea's missile test strongly condemned by international community

우리정부를 비롯한 각국 정부들 북한의 미사일 발사 비판 Less than 2 hours after North Korea conducted its missile test just before 8 a.m.... South Korea's presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae initiated a National Security Council meeting chaired by Kim Kwan-Jin, the presidential national security director. The meeting went on for about 50 minutes,... and according to a statement released from Cheong Wa Dae around noon, Kim then spoke on the phone with his new counterpart in the Trump Administration, National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The two officials strongly condemned the launch, and agreed that their countries will explore "every possible way" to suppress North Korea's provocations. The two security advisers had spoken with each other less than a month ago, not long after President Trump's inauguration, when they promised to further develop South Korea-U.S. relations. News of the launch has provoked strong responses from many parts of both the South Korean government... and those of other countries. South Korea's foreign ministry said the launch demonstrates the "maniacal obsession of the Kim Jong-un regime," and that the North is ultimately harming itself with its weapons programs. (Korean) "By faithfully enforcing international sanctions, such as UN Security Council Resolution 2321... and strong stand-alone sanctions by our partners like the United States, Japan and the European Union,... we will make the North realize that it will never survive unless it dismantles all of its nuclear and missile programs." Meanwhile, Japan's top government spokesman, Yoshihide Suga told reporters that the test constitutes a clear provocation to the country. (Japanese) "We absolutely cannot accept these provocations by North Korea, and have protested strongly to them." As for the United States, an official from the Trump Administration told Reuters -- on the condition of anonymity -- that the provocation from North Korea came as "no surprise," saying that the North Korean leader "likes to draw attention" during times of uncertainty. China's foreign ministry, however, has so far declined to comment,... though there's a chance it could release a statement on its official website. Some pundits have speculated that the launch could lead to Beijing doing more to enforce sanctions on the North... to improve relations with Washington. Kim Jung-soo, Arirang News.
