믹타 "北 도발 국제질서 훼손 규탄" North Korea has conducted two nuclear tests this year along with dozens of missile launches. That's prompted reactions from countries and international organizations around the world. The latest condemnation comes from MIKTA,... a group of five so-called "middle power" countries that includes South Korea. Kim Hyesung reports. The so-called "MIKTA" group, whose acronym stands for its membership -- Mexico, India, South Korea, Turkey and Australia -- has condemned the North's repeated nuclear and missile tests. At the 8th MIKTA Foreign Minister's meeting in Sydney, diplomats from the five countries issued a joint statement Friday... urging North Korea to fully comply with all of its international obligations, including UN Security Council resolutions. They also expressed concerns over the diminishing resources available to address the North Korean people's humanitarian needs... because of the increasing frequency of Pyongyang's provocations this year, including its two nuclear tests and dozens of missile launches. According to South Korea's Foreign Ministry, the latest joint statement is the first to say that Pyongyang's provocations harm the international order. The ministry also said the statement will help spread the understanding that North Korea's nuclear issue is tied directly to its dire human rights situation. MIKTA was formed in 2013. Its members hold regular annual meetings and also meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Leader’s Week and the G20. Kim Hyesung, Arirang News.
