www.loudlabs.com RIVERSIDE - The City of Riverside Fire Department along with the Riverside Police Department responded to a vehicle vs fire hydrant at the intersection of Sun West Rd. and Devon Ct. First arriving resources found a small compact sedan had sheared a fire hydrant sending a geyser of water approximately 70-80 feet into the air. The geyser from the hydrant could be seen over the roof tops of houses a few blocks away. Residents in the area took advantage of the flooded streets and were outside with buckets capturing the water for their lawns and plants. The Western Water District was called to the scene to shut the hydrant off. It took crews approximately 45 minutes to get the hydrant shut down. The male driver of the sedan remained at the scene and was cooperating with law enforcement. No injuries were reported and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
