Pursuit Suspect Crashes Into Hydrant Causing Flooding / Riverside RAW FOOTAGE

loudlabs.com RIVERSIDE - Early Tuesday morning March 21st Officers with the Riverside Police Department were involved in a pursuit which ended when the suspect collided with a fire hydrant. Shortly after 1:00am Officers were pursuing a male suspect in a white sedan when the suspect struck and sheared a fire hydrant in the 3800 block of Dawes Street. The sheared hydrant sent a geyser of water shooting approximately 40 feet into the air. Water also caused a few garages of homes in the area to flood. Area residents were out with shovels and brooms trying to keep the water from entering their homes. Riverside Public Utilities with assistance from the City of Riverside Fire Department had the hydrant shut down within 30 minutes. The reason for the pursuit is unclear as Officers at the scene have declined to comment and calls to the Watch Commander have gone unanswered. No further details were immediately available.
