Hello everyone. Today I’ll be making another popular bar of mine, the Almond Soap Bars scented with Rose Geranium & Ho Wood essential oil. This can be my second hardest bar to make as it traces incredibly fast, soaping at a lower temperature is key and mixing in the EO blend with a whisk. I use the heat transfer method when the Lye water is @ 47 Degrees Celsius. You will see how I manage to pour without any issues. I’ve struggled with this recipe in the past until I came up with the best way to make it without it becoming to thick to pour The hardest bar I make is the same variant but scented with Lavender, Cedarwood, Patchouli & Ylang-Ylang. It is a 3-color split and can trace in 30 seconds after adding the EO blend. I will upload a video sometime in the near future Note; These we’re ready to cut after about 6 hours. Due to the water discounting, Pink salt and Sodium lactate. You don’t have to water discount and add these ingredients, if not then a good 14-24 hours would be needed to unmould. I can tell when they are ready to cut if I lift the loaf upside down and it slides out without issue it’s ready! If it doesn’t slide out, I check on it every 1-2 hours then I try again. Also, the weather plays a role. I find that on hot humid days I need to give it up to 8 hours. So, checking on it is key If you have never made soap before please watch videos on handling lye, lye safety & beginner tutorials on soap making. I recommend watching the following; Anne-Marie the soap queen from brambleberry; • Lye Safety And Ingredients For Cold Proces... (Lye concentrations & water) I use LyeCalc to formulate all my recipes. It is my favourite as you can adjust lye purity; https://www.lyecalc.com/ I always recommend running a recipe through a Lye calculator to be safe. I will now be giving recipe information using percentages of the oil amount, which includes all the additives. This is to encourage new soap makers to familiarise themselves with using a lye calculator and having a better understanding of formulating a recipe Names of where I obtained my ingredients from & Recipe Information; Yields 20, 1” / 2.54cm 145g average bars Percentage of 2000g oil batch; 30% - Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (Hello Pure) 60% - Australian Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil (Range Products) 5% - Organic Castor Oil (New Directions) 5% - Cold Pressed Virgin Sweet Almond Oil (Naked Press) 3% - Organic Brown Sugar (ALDI) 1.2% - Pink Himalayan Salt (Woolworths) 1.2% - Sodium Lactate (Heirloom Body Care) 1.5% - Australian Pink Kaolin Clay (New Directions) 1.5% - Australian White Kaolin Clay (New Directions) Organic Rose Petals (New Directions) 5% Superfat – 284.52g of 99% Purity Sodium Hydroxide (Sydney Solvents) 500g Distilled Water - 25% water to oil ratio (my personal favourite method) Moore’s Ultra Still Pure Water (Woolworths 0.7% - Natural Vitamin E (AWO - Australian Wholesale Oils) - I always add the Vitamin E to the essential oils Essential Oil Blend – 1.5% Rose Geranium, 1.5% Ho Wood, 0.5% Cedarwood Atlas Soap Moulds (eBay / Aliexpress) Soap Cutter (Etsy Shop “soapcutterAU”) Music by https://www.bensound.com.
