For highly sensitive people and introverts, the holidays can stir up overstimulation, family dynamics, emotional regression, and old patterns. In this episode, I explore why the holidays are uniquely challenging for HSPs and introverts, and how we can meet this season with more self-acceptance, nervous system regulation, and resilience. Drawing on Jung’s concept of complexes, we'll discuss how family environments and group settings can activate unconscious emotional material (and why this doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with you). I also question the cultural and spiritual narrative of being the “black sheep,” inviting a more relational view: everyone in the family system is likely struggling in their own way, especially during the holidays. This episode offers practical, embodied ways to support your nervous system, maintain health-supportive routines, and release perfectionism so you can move through the season with greater steadiness and maturity. In this episode, we explore: Why the holidays are especially activating for HSPs and introverts Jung’s idea of complexes and how family dynamics trigger them The role of context in emotional overwhelm Nervous system regulation as a foundation for resilience Rethinking the “black sheep” identity with compassion and realism Letting go of perfection and prioritizing health during the holidays Ep. 21 Listen to This When You're Triggered Over the Holidays: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1644670/ep...
