5 1/2 months prior to the Pearl Harbor bombing, people were aware of the dangers of problems in Europe and in the Western Pacific. Life still kept it's normal pace and the upcoming celebration of the 4th of July. Cars lined the downtown street as the main shopping area of the time. City buses were hustling people to and from. Movie houses were showing the latest movies. A large steam locomotive on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy railroad moving about. Quick view of the Union Station and Rock Island depot. It will all be turned upside down in a very short period of time.
