Modules in the toolkit include: What is Management?; Recruitment and Selection; Team Development; Developing employee motivation; Developing trust between managers and leaders; and Managing Inappropriate Behaviour. This video clip from our course explores how to manage teams in the workplace. Maximize your success as a team manager with effective leadership skills. Whether leading one team or multiple, managing teams is a critical part of a manager's role. New managers may face the challenge of being approached by colleagues for answers and guidance in difficult situations, from professional decisions to conflict resolution and performance evaluations. Utilize your people skills and continuously develop them for personal growth. Don't expect to have all the answers right away, instead seek advice and support from superiors or HR when needed to prevent minor conflicts from escalating. Enhance your team's success and your own success as a manager by honing your leadership skills. Video Transcription: Working with teams, whether as the leader of a single team or the manager of several, is an essential part of any manager's remit. If you are new to management, you may suddenly find that colleagues are coming to you for answers, especially if things have become difficult or they wish to cover themselves. They are likely to consult you about difficult professional decisions, expect you to resolve conflict, deal with complaints, and fight the team's corner when it comes to needing more resources or dealing with performance issues. You will find that you have to apply your people skills and you will probably wish to develop these further as part of your own personal development. As you do, remember that you are not expected to have all of the answers immediately. The skills that you need will develop over time and you should seek advice and support from your manager or from the HR department if you feel out of your depth or unsure. Doing this will ensure that minor conflicts do not blow out of proportion and become formal grievances or disciplinary issues.
