PKK-KDPI CLASH The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party and Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran have clashed in the mountainous border area of Iran. At least two fighters from the KDPI side died. The KDPI is a Kurdish-Iranian party that has struggled for Kurdish rights in Iran for decades. The outlawed-PKK is a Kurdish nationalist organisation based in Turkey and the U.S. has listed it as a foreign terrorist organisation since the 1990s.". ARMY STRIKES FARC The Colombian army has killed at least seven Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia guerillas in an air strike in the northwestern province of Antioquia. The attack came a day after FARC announced it was suspending a unilateral ceasefire following another army attack on the 21st that killed 26 members of the group. Five months ago, the group had declared a unilateral ceasefire to facilitate the peace talks with the Colombian government. They aim to bring an end to the country’s decades long conflict.". NETANYAHU THANKS OBAMA Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the U.S. for its stance against placing an Egypt-proposed UN nuclear arms ban on the Middle East. CLEVELAND PROTESTS Protests have broken out after white Cleveland police officer Michael Brelo was found not guilty in the shooting deaths of an unarmed black man and woman after a high-speed car chase in 2012. After the verdict, police in riot gear patrolled and blocked protesters from going inside the courthouse. The crowd chanted “No justice, no peace.” Brelo’s trial comes at a time when U.S. police have come under scrutiny for their use of fatal force in their encounters with minorities after a series of black men were killed by police, prompting protests nationwide.".
