This morning I made a shortened arrangement of the Rachmaninoff Vocalise for Romsai, a bull elephant almost totally blind I live with in Thailand. At the moment Romsai is in musth so can’t help himself feeling hot-tempered and he's extremely dangerous to other elephants and humans during this time. The red patches on the sides of Romsai's cheeks are temporin secretions during the musth period. Romsai powerfully attacked another elephant just before I made this video so, in truth, wasn’t sure what would happen being so close to him today. If you want to play my arrangement of the Rachmaninoff Vocalise download the sheet music (free) from my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13aco... (Please note* the blank space at the end of the PDF is not due to a problem with the scanner, rather missing bars deleted in making this shortened arrangement) Musth: Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musth Musth or must is a periodic condition in bull (male) elephants, characterized by highly aggressive behavior and accompanied by a large rise in reproductive hormones. Testosterone levels in an elephant in musth can be as much as 60 times greater than in the same elephant at other times. However, whether this hormonal surge is the sole cause of musth, or merely a contributing factor, is unknown. Scientific investigation of musth is problematic because even the most placid elephants become highly violent toward humans and other elephants during musth.
