Weather Impact Alert: Lake-effect snow and gusty winds starting Wednesday through Thursday morning

Winter weather returns as we usher in the new year, leading us to issue a Weather Impact Alert. Temperatures will be falling and rain will be changing to wet snow overnight. While it will be colder, temperatures will still be above freezing. The ground is also very mild and saturated after the rain and warmth we've had lately. Given all of that, a lot of tonight's snow will have a hard time actually sticking and accumulating. If anything, maybe a slushy dusting to an inch for just a few locations that catch a heavier band of snow. The first day of 2025 will be colder and breezy, feeling more like the 20s for much of the day. Snow will work on transitioning to primarily lake-effect snow through the day Wednesday. That snow could really start to add up, especially for the snowbelt as temperatures fall below freezing Wednesday evening. Lake-effect snow will continue Wednesday night and into at least Thursday morning. Jessica Van Meter has more: https://www.wkyc.com/article/weather/...
