[Anchor] Monsoon rains will continue tomorrow (the 22nd), mainly in the central region. Up to 80mm of monsoon rain is expected to pour down in some central areas, including southern Gyeonggi. Cars also carefully pass through roads filled with standing rainwater. Access to the Cheonggyecheon walking path has been restricted due to the heavy downpour. As cold air from the north collides with warm air from the south, monsoon clouds are developing strongly. In particular, monsoon rains are continuing, centered around the central region. On Wednesday, 20 to 60mm of rain is expected to fall in the Seoul metropolitan area, as well as in Gangwon, Chungcheong, northwestern Jeonbuk, and central and northern Gyeongbuk. Rain of 20 to 30 mm per hour is expected in parts of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungcheong provinces from dawn until morning. There may also be areas receiving more than 80 mm of heavy rain, centered around southern Gyeonggi, northern Chungcheong, and the southern inland regions of Gangwon." In the southern regions and Jeju, heatwaves and tropical nights are prevailing instead of rain, as if the monsoon season has ended. A heatwave warning is in effect for southern Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeju, while a heatwave advisory is in effect for Daejeon, southern Chungbuk, and the Honam region. As hot and humid air flows in, the perceived temperature in areas under these special advisories will rise to around 33 degrees Celsius, making it sweltering. With the heat not cooling easily even at night, tropical nights are expected to continue for the time being, so preparations for the relentless heat are necessary.
