Government building hit in Mykolaiv

(29 Mar 2022) An explosion on Tuesday blasted a hole in a nine-story administration building in Mykolaiv, a southern port city in Ukraine that Russia has unsuccessfully tried to capture. A gaping hole could be seen in the center of the building and shattered glass littered the inside and exterior of the structure. The regional governor Vitaliy Kim said there had been no confirmed casualties and most people escaped the building, but Ukrainian President Volydymr Zelenskyy told Danish lawmakers on Tuesday that seven people had died. Rescuers were searching for a handful of missing people, he added. "Over 50 people got out with different levels of injuries," he told the AP. "Two of my deputies are in the hospital. One has broken ribs and (a broken) leg."
