A growing energy source! China expanding shale oil production in Xinjiaing's Jimsar reserve

Shale oil is one of most hard-to-exploit oil resources which is stored in tight, low-permeability formations and poor in liquidity. In China's NW's Xinjiang, there are abundant shale oil reserves totaling over three billion tons, mainly in its three major sags – Jimsar, Mahu and Wucaiwan-Shishugou. Covering an area of 1,278 square kilometers, and with an explored reserve of over 100 million tons of shale oil, the Jimsar shale oil field can now produce more than 500,000 tons.
