U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in Geneva on Sunday, ahead of talks this week over the Ukraine crisis. Russia said it would not make concessions under U.S. pressure, and warned that the talks might end early. Washington said no breakthroughs were expected, and progress depends on de-escalation from Moscow. The two sides will hold a meeting on Monday in Geneva to ease tensions.
