Danish Siddiqui, an Indian national and a chief photographer for the Reuters news agency killed in southern Afghanistan while covering clashes between Afghan forces and the Taliban. Siddiqui was among the Reuters photography staff to win the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for documenting the violence Rohingya refugees faced as they fled Myanmar. He had worked for the news agency since 2010, covering various crises around the world. Reuters said Friday morning that it was "urgently seeking more information" and "working with authorities in the region." "Danish was an outstanding journalist, a devoted husband and father, and a much-loved colleague," Reuters president Michael Friedenberg and editor-in-chief Alessandra Galloni said in a joint statement. "Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time." The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) said it was "deeply saddened" by Siddiqui's death.
