'India condemns killing of journalist Danish Siddiqui in Afghanistan': Foreign Secy at UNSC

India strongly condemned the killing of Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui in Afghanistan. Speaking at the UN Security Council, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla expressed concern over violence against humanitarian workers in armed conflict situations. “We condemn the killing of Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui in Afghanistan's Kandahar. I extend our sincerest condolences to his bereaved family. Humanitarian situations around the world today demand urgent attention of the Council. Responsibility for providing protection in humanitarian crisis lies with the concerned country,” he said. Danish Siddiqui, 38, was on a reporting assignment in Afghanistan when he died. The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist was killed in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar city. He was killed while covering clashes between Afghan troops & the Talibans.
