Several bombs in Baghdad killed five people whilst overnight on Wednesday two car bombs exploded in the northern city of Kirkuk, killing one. A parked car bomb apparently targeting a police patrol exploded in al-Juhuriya Street, a busy commercial street in central Baghdad, killing three civilians and wounding 12 others. Earlier an improvised explosive device went off next to a police patrol in the Palestine Street neighbourhood of eastern Baghdad, killing two people, including one police officer, and wounding 11 others, police said. Five of the wounded were also police officers. The explosion caused damage to shops and police cars. The injured were taken to al-Kindi Teaching Hospital for treatment. On Wednesday evening, two car bombs went off in the northern oil-rich city of Kirkuk, killing one civilian and wounding 15 others, including five policemen, said police in the city. The first car bomb, on Wednesday evening, exploded next to a police patrol, wounding five policemen and five civilians. The second car bomb exploded at night in a mostly Kurdish neighbourhood, killing one civilian and wounding five others, said police. The injured of both incidents were taken to Kirkuk hospital for treatment.
