The Biden administration is promising states will see a roughly 16% increase in vaccine doses over the next three weeks. In New Jersey, that translates to about 130,000 vaccines a week split between Pfizer and Moderna. More help appears on the way to states if Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose candidate wins approval. New Brunswick-based J&J says it now expects to release early data from its phase 3 trial next week. Once granted emergency use authorization, the vaccine would add 100 million doses to the pipeline by June. In total, the state has now administered 642,613 doses, with 550,526 of those being first doses. Wednesday state leaders reported 3,950 new COVID-19 cases. There are now 676,537 total cases in the state, with 107 new deaths for a total of 21,220 confirmed and probable fatalities. Hospitalizations continue to fall slowly with 3,190 patients hospitalized as of Tuesday night, the lowest number since November.
