In this deeply honest piece, Salma talks about the silencing of any discussion about feelings, in her family, and then reveals her memories of undergoing female khatna (a term used to describe FGM/C in a number of Muslim communities), which she buried deep within herself for years. Now, Salma is finding that talking about her experience is making her braver, and she hopes her story will do the same for others.
