GOD'S REVELATION OF LOVE Sunday 9th March 2024- First Sunday Ephesians 3:17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, Love should be the foundation on which we build our lives; not the love that has been defined by the world, but the God kind of love. Since the fall, man's interpretation of love failed; therefore, if we want to understand true love, we must look at Jesus for He is the only person who demonstrated it clearly. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God did nothing when lucifer and the Angels fell but when man did, God came down. This is why the Angels were asking, "what is man that you are mindful of him...?" Man occupies a special position in the Kingdom of God. According to 1 John 1:3, man has been brought into fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He is the only creature that is called a son of God because of what Jesus did at the cross. Hebrews 12:14 One of the revelations of God's love for man is Holiness which is related to man's connection to the Vine. The righteousness we have when we get born again is not ours but Jesus'; He reveals His love by taking our away the sinful nature and giving us righteousness. The perfect picture that we can look at to understand love is the cross. Jesus is no longer here but He left us to bring forth fruit and reveal His love to humanity. (Matthew 5:16) Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. God loves us so much that when He realized His standard of Holiness was too high, He did not only give us what to do but He left heaven in the person of the Holy Spirit to indwell us and cause us to do. He is both the law giver and the law keeper. Much as the sinful nature was taken away at the cross and the nature of God was put in us, the sinful nature left in us a mind that needs to be renewed. It is, therefore, difficult to find the expression of the life that God has put inside us unless the spirit finds its way through us. (Romans 13:2) When God gave us Jesus, He gave us the best and when He gave us the Holy Spirit, He gave us everything we need for life and godliness. Our only role is to surrender our spirits and also renew our minds with the Word of God. We ought to yield and cooperate with the Holy Spirit who causes us to do.
