THE REVELATION OF GOD'S LOVE Sunday 9th April 2023- Second Service Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” The Father forsook His Son so that He could welcome you; Jesus was rejected so that you could be accepted; He died so that you could live. I pray that we get a revelation of what the Lord went through at Calvary. The reason why we trivialize our salvation is because we have not perceived what Jesus did for us. It cost God alot. Jesus was provoked but He did not say a word; He could have walked away or called the angels to rescue Him because He had all the power but He did not because He saw you and I. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, ... God's love is beyond human comprehension and understanding. The best thing we can do to reciprocate it is to live for Christ. Think about it: how can a God so glorious and powerful lower Himself from His level to our level? We always play with our salvation, complain and murmur because we do not know that it cost God everything. We can never appreciate God enough until we get a revelation of what Jesus did on the cross. Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Acts 21:13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” When you capture the revelation of what Jesus did, you will hold back nothing as you serve God because you know that nothing can be compared to it. This is the difference between the apostolic church and the current generation: our generation lacks the revelation and yet the revelation is what makes one defy all odds to obey and serve God. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Being sinners means that we were enemies of the cross but Jesus took our sinfulness and died for us on the cross. That is why we have to live for Him in response to what He did. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. We must put interest in whatever we do; giving, serving, worshipping, praying, etc, and do it out of love, knowing that God called us not because we qualified but because He privileged us. Therefore, if we are going to live, then we have to live for Christ and use the privilege knowing that God still has seven thousand more that can do what we do and do it even better (1 Kings 19:18). Read Luke 19:40 If you are given a privilege and you don't use it, stones will. You must throw yourself into it with your all and not brag except in the cross. May the Holy Spirit give us a revelation and rekindle the first love that God may be able to express His love through us (Revelation 2:4-5). No matter how low or high we go, we ought to use our influence to spread the love of God: that is the only way we can repay Christ for what He did for us at Calvary.
