Today's Gospel with Catholic Reflection – Tuesday, January 20, 2026 📖🙏 In this episode: • First Reading: 1 Samuel 16:1-13 – The Lord sends Samuel to anoint a new king among the sons of Jesse. While humans look at outward appearance, God looks at the heart. David, the youngest and least expected, is chosen and anointed, and the Spirit of the Lord rushes upon him from that day forward. • Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 50:8-9, 16bc-17, 21 and 23 – God calls His people to sincere faith, not empty rituals. True worship is lived through obedience, thanksgiving, and a heart aligned with God’s ways. • Gospel: Mark 2:23-28 – Jesus defends His disciples for plucking grain on the Sabbath, reminding the Pharisees that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. He reveals His authority as the Son of Man and teaches that God’s law is meant to bring life, mercy, and freedom.
