Accused hit-and-run driver, Julio Acevedo, turns himself in

BROOKLYN - The man accused in the hit-and-run deaths of an expectant couple is awaiting an extradition hearing to be brought back to Brooklyn. Julio Acevedo turned himself in to authorities in Bethlehem, Penn. yesterday after four days on the lam. Detectives say he was behind the wheel of a BMW that struck 21-year-old Nathan and Raizy Glauber in Williamsburg on Sunday. Their child was born prematurely after the accident, but died the next day. Acevedo had spoken to media outlets before his surrender, saying that he fled the scene of the crash because he was being shot at. Police say there were no reports of gunfire in the area at the time.
