Race For Raisina: Oppn Names Yashwant Sinha As Prez Candidate | India Tonight

The race for Raisina Hills is heating up. A united opposition named Yashwant Sinha as its consensus candidate for the Presidential elections. Remember President Ramnath Kovind's Presidential term ends on July 24th. The Election Commission has announced that it will scrutinise nomination papers on 30th of June and voting will take place on the 18th of July. The candidature of Yashwant Sinha is more interesting given his background and history. Sinha was a former Janata Party leader...but more importantly, he was a part of Atal Behari Vajpayee's NDA government. The leader quit the Bhartiya Janta Party in 2018 citing differences with the leadership's ideology. It was at this time that Sinha had famously said, "democracy is in danger..."
