THE TRUE BUILDER | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (August 27, 2023) with sign language We are on the Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in today’s Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter says “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” If we were Jesus, we would probably be impressed with Peter’s answer. Peter seems to be learning well. But Jesus’s response sheds a light on how faith works. It is the Father who reveals the true identity of Jesus to a person. It is the Father that gives faith. It is Jesus who will build His Church on Peter.
