Donkey Kong Country (SNES) 101% : Kongo Jungle - Jungle Hijinxs w/ KONG letters and all Bonus Areas
Level 1-1, Jungle Hijinxs, is the very first level in the game, and it starts at Donkey Kong's own hut! You can actually go inside the hut for a red balloon and inside the banana hoard cave directly below to see that it's empty (it becomes full again after beating the game); they aren't Bonus Areas though. This level is two things: one, an easy and simple introduction to the game's mechanics basic enemies, barrels, Rambi and animal friends in general, buried items and accessing Bonus Areas, among others and two, a paradise of life balloons! You can find a few of them on top of the trees in the first half, and there's also a super secret blue balloon at the very end: in order to reach it, you have to bring Rambi to the right edge of the screen above the exit, jump and dismount him in mid-air to get on a hidden bouncy tire (you'll be able to hear its sound effect) and do a high jump off that tire. Nothing else in the game is as well hidden as this. By the way, a glitch happens at 1:27 and Diddy seems to be carrying nothing, this is the kind of glitch speedrunners use to skip levels. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KONG letters: all of them are in plain sight. There are 2 Bonus Areas here: 1. 1:39 Use Rambi to break through the wall by the letter N (or a barrel, if you so wish). The first Bonus of the game, and it's very simple: just run through some bananas and get the red balloon at the end. You can bring Rambi here, interesting since animal buddies usually stay out of Bonus Areas. 2. 1:53 Again, break through the wall directly below the letter G with Rambi (or a barrel). This Bonus is a slot machine minigame: three floating barrels cycle through images of the four kinds of Animal Tokens, and must be stopped by touching them. If you match three images of the same Animal Token, you receive it as the prize. Minigames of this kind are failed as soon as you get a non-matching image.
