The Singapore Constitution has robust safeguards to protect the Attorney-General's independent exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Senior Minister of State for Law Edwin Tong said this at the Committee of Supply debate on Feb 28, in response to Workers' Party MP Sylvia Lim. She had suggested that the dual role of the Attorney-General as public prosecutor and chief legal advisor to the government be decoupled.
