Hydroboration oxidation Vs. Oxymercuration demercuration: A comparetive study.
In this video, I have discussed the basic differences and a few similarities between hydroboration oxidation vs. oxymercuration demarcation. I have discussed attrition of water to the carbon atoms of the unsymmetrical double bond where hydroboration oxidation produces anti-Merkovnikov addition product and oxymercuration demarcation produces Merkovnikov addition product. Additionally, I have explained that terminal alkyne hydroboration oxidation produces aldehyde but oxymercuration demarcation results in a ketone with a keto-methyl group.
