TRANSCRIPT: I'm Dr. Myriam Sollman, I'm director of the Neuropsychology section here at Wake Forest Baptist Health. I was attracted to this institution because it has a very strong department of Neurology. I came with a specific interest in movement disorders and epilepsy as well as lifespan neuropsychology. I love my work as a neuropsychologist because I get to meet new people every day. It's not a brief interaction: I actually spend four to five hours with each patient - I really get to know you, your life story, your concerns, and your medical condition. My patient care philosophy is to treat everyone as if they were my own family member, to really hear their whole story to get to know them, and to make sure that no stones are left unturned. I love working with patients because each person brings to me a different life story and a different puzzle that needs to be assembled. I get to take my time, listen to their whole story, put together everything I know about their medical history and help them to move forward in life. The Department of Neurology at Wake Forest Baptist Health has never disappointed me. We have phenomenal physicians from all over the world and the country who are truly skilled at what they do and I'm very glad to call them my colleagues. Many people like to know things about their physicians, sometimes people find it fun to know that I'm also a musician, I'm a violinist and you may see me out and about on the town performing in local cafes.
