In this second Values Based Exposure Practice we run through an exposure and response prevention practice to learn psychological flexibility skills for dealing with difficult thoughts, feelings and urges. This is designed for someone familiar with ERP or exposure therapy, and wanting to use ACT and Compassion skills to help, you may need to work with a therapist if you haven't practiced this way of working with difficulties. I would recommend spending some time with dropping anchor, the defusion practices, NAME, self compassion for feelings, urge surfing and the first values based exposure practice before engaging in this practice. You might spend 2 weeks of daily practice on each step. We worked at facing the core fears around safety and unhappiness (for self and others) that might sit below the obsessions. We also practice activating the mental compulsions on purpose and then dipping into and out of that stream using defusion and acceptance. The practice also covers values based motivation, workability reflection and engaging in values based actions during and after the exposure. Any questions let me know below.
