Australia is grappling with the rapid spread of coronavirus, with senior government minister Peter Dutton confirming he has contracted the disease while on a recent trip to the US. The Home Affairs Minister met with numerous US dignitaries during his trip, including US President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka. It is not known whether Ms Trump has contracted the disease. Mr Dutton's diagnoses comes after the federal government has banned all non-essential gatherings from Monday to restrict the spread of the disease. Schools will remain open but the newly formed coronavirus busting taskforce “National Cabinet” will spend the weekend working out the logistics of the nation-wide gathering restrictions on events with more than 500 people. At least 128,325 people have contracted the disease worldwide, with the biggest cluster outside of China in Italy. Major events have been delayed, suspended or cancelled as the world health authorities seek protect vulnerable communities.
