It's Jan 8, 2014 and I just had a client ask me, should he buy it, or should he build it? Well 6 months ago homes were cheaper to buy than build. With rising prices of existing homes, it might be cheaper to build. That's why there are so many builders out there now rushing to get their new homes on the market as fast as they can. If you want to build a home in Tahoe and Truckee, I know several different builders and they all lend themselves to different styles of clients and projects. Some can build a great place for as little as $230. a sq. ft. If you can find a lot at a good price, building might be the better option for you.
