Here you'll see VCFR Rescue Engine 44 passing by in District 32 in DeLand, seen from the Fire Buffing Captain 10 Spare Unit. This unit is a full engine/pumper unit as well as a fully stocked ambulance/transport capable unit. VCFR originally ordered 4 of these, but only 2 remain in service due to the fact that when this unit is transporting to the hospital, there is a gap in coverage (basically they realized this was a bad investment). Station 44 in Pierson and Station 22 in Oak Hill still have them in service. Stations 18 and 36 tried them but went back to regular engines after a short while.
