An alternative animation of Algol (see also • Eclipsing Binary Star Algol (Beta Persei) ) showing how the light from the system varies as a function of the orbit. Check the graph at the top right. There is a slight reduction of light when the bigger but dimmer star (yellow) is behind the blue one, and a much deeper dip when the blue star is obscured.
