And for your listening practice, I’d like to share my very very personal story of love — a story of my husband and me. We travelled to the city of Menton to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Twenty years together! It feels like time went very fast. As a young girl, I dreamed of marrying someone I would love deeply for a lifetime — and this dream came true. I was 20 when we got married and husband was 25. But we met when I was 18. He came to my town to study at a Christian school, and we met at church. That is how everything started. Now we have three wonderful children. People often ask me, “How do you stay happy after 20 years?” Of course, like any couple, we’ve had disagreements — and sometimes, in those moments, I didn’t feel love. I even thought I hated him with my whole heart. But later, when I calm down, I understand something important: He is a very special person for me. No one can take his place in my life. When we married we made a promise to each other, and also to God and our community. We try to keep this promise every day. A good relationship needs work, patience, and love.
